Battle for playoff spot
Competition for playoff spot heats upby Michael BarrThe anticipated match up of the Perth Broncos and West Coast Wolverines has finally arrived, in a bout that could cement the play-off picture. Both sit on 5-4 records and a win for either side could be the measure needed to secure that final fourth spot. The Wolverines have found consistency in past weeks following a rocky start to the season however the Broncos will be their biggest test in their hopes of making the play-offs. The Broncos stabilised with a solid win against the Claremont Jets last week following a string of losses and a struggle for consistency. The Broncos also have the firepower and experience to overwhelm the young Wolverines, but the two teams are equally matched, emphasised by the nail-biting 18-16 game in round two. The key to this game will be the ability to stop big plays. Both defences are prone to giving up large chucks of field and big touchdowns, so negating the long pass and tackling effectively will be crucial. Success will also come down to who makes the least mistakes, with turnovers being a major issue for both teams in recent weeks. Catch the game at North Beach, 4:30 this Saturday for one of the games of the year. |
