Who's going to make it?
Well, this is the part of the season we all play for, brass tacks, the business, the qualification that takes 14 weeks to get to and only 4 teams get a shot at it. In case you hadn't gotten the gist, I'm talking about the finals. We're down to a familiar set of teams; Rockingham Vipers, Westside Steelers, Perth Blitz and Perth Broncos. The same four have competed in the finals series over the last several seasons without fail. Although this season presented hopefully a new challenger, the Curtin Saints made a good effort of trying to bump out a struggling Blitz team who needed all of the remaining post-xmas points on offer and several other things to go their way to assure themselves of a place. The Blitz did get in though and ended up making a case for their place by bumping the Broncos to fourth via the tiebreaking system. This brings us to the Semi-Finals games schedule:
The games will be played at the Kingsway Sports Centre as they have all season, if you're unsure as to where that is, follow the link for details. This year as in previous years, all four teams will play to determine which two advance to the next stage. To give both successful teams the chance to attain the pinnacle of what Gridiron West has to offer us as players; The Trophy. The Rockingham Vipers have held tight on their grip of it for three seasons running and have made it plain to all who can see that they don't intend to relinquish it without a fight. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell anyone who will listen. Come and watch the best that gridiron in Western Australia has to offer. Be sure to follow us on Facebook here and here, as well as on Twitter for all the scores and GW updates. |
